A place to gather
The house survives because each generation found a new reason to use it.
Past programs have included historical talks, Kentucky Chautauqua® performances and seasonal Ghostly Tales storytelling. The building has also welcomed weddings, receptions, showers and private gatherings.
What is Kentucky Chautauqua®?
Kentucky Chautauqua® is a living-history program of Kentucky Humanities. A trained performer appears in costume and speaks in the first person as a notable Kentuckian from the past, bringing that person’s experiences and historical period to life. Performances are followed by audience questions, first answered in character and then discussed with the performer as a modern historian and interpreter.
Since 1992, the program has introduced audiences to more than 70 people from Kentucky’s history .... both famous figures and people whose stories had received little attention.
